Various forms of attention training techniques are taught to the patient in Sattvajayya therapy. Regular practice of these reduces mental stress and anxiety, depression. Considering the symptoms in a person with such distress, psychotherapist has to choose the techniques in Satvavajya therapy and teach them to the patient. In doing so, the idea of body nature and temperament becomes compulsory.

A person of Vat temperament according to Ayurveda is naturally more agile. He is constantly moving the body, legs and arms. This person is more likely to experience symptoms such as anxiety and fear. In this case, deep breathing techniques are helpful before witnessing the body sensations. Instead of sitting in meditation for longer period continuously, it is easier for this type of person to sit for two to three times a day for five to ten minutes at a time. In these types of person thoughts in their minds are far more than those of a Kaph temperament person.

In order to realize that mind is not present in the moment, we have to teach them the technique of bringing attention to the present moment again and again. Mind will wander in thoughts, it is natural and obvious, so do not be discouraged. Vat temperament person needs more training to get their attention back to the present moment without getting bored. But this practice will reduce stress on their brain. It will rest Default mode network in the brain.

These types of people may have more body pain. Open attention on whole body at a time reduces intensity of pain. Then it is easier to accept what is happening in the body. It reduces hyperactivity of amygdala, the fear center in the brain. Hyperactivity of this region is the culprit of anxiety, panic attack and phobias. Practicing Observing self meditation is very effective technique in Sattvavajay psychotherapy.
